The Fourth of July was on Sunday this year. It was a bit of a challenge to decide how we could celebrate. We decided that it was o.k. to see the city fireworks celebration, but a thunderstorm--hail and all--discouraged us. Mara got all dressed up with nowhere to go, and she convinced Neil to take her and the boys to see the fireworks anyway. It was a bit wet and a bit disappointing. We'll have to do better next year.
While Mara got excited about the clothes, Emily got excited about the food! She made this yummy flag cake and a potato salad to go with our grilled chicken.
We nervously did a few sparklers and fountains in the backyard on Saturday. Nervous because if a neighbor calls police you get a $1000 fine!
A little Harry Potter action!
